PUTTING THE "YOU" IN UNIFORM
The Nugget Knack is a graphic design company specializing in military aviation helmet art. Founded by an Air Force officer, we understand firsthand that the uniformity of the military can often make it difficult to show your individualism and personality. That's why our core mission is to help service members feel authentically them, even in uniform.
OUR VALUES
SERVICE
Our service to you is first and foremost. The end result of our work is the delivery of one-of-a-kind masterpieces catered specifically to you. We stop at nothing less. So go ahead and celebrate your individuality - every nugget deserves something special!
CREATIVITY
We are creators through and through. We work to create not only exactly what you want, but exactly what you need. If you know you want something special but are struggling with ideas, we will assist you along in the process until you have a design that feels authentically you.
INNOVATION
At TNK, we cultivate and encourage growth at all levels. We promise to humbly accept all feedback and criticism and apply it in a meaningful way. In other words: Hey, we know we are good… but we don’t have a big Nugget about it. Nobody is perfect right?
MEET THE FOUNDER & DESIGNER
Rothrock "Smokey" Bair
Hailing from California, I cut my teeth in the creative spheres as early as elementary school, where I consistently enrolled in all the art and music classes I could. Following this passion into early adulthood, I earned my college degree in fine arts with a minor in music. After an underwhelming stint in the Bay Area music industry as an audio engineer (musicians can be such Divas!), I decided to pivot in a new direction in 2015 when I commissioned as an officer in the United States Air Force, effectively putting my artistic career on hold. After three years of flight-training, I became a combat-ready weapons system officer flying the F-15E.
It wasn't until I arrived at my first operational flying unit that I discovered an outlet which reinvigorated my passion for the arts. Leaning into the fighter squadron's culture and identity, I began designing military-aviation related paraphernalia like stickers, patches, t-shirts, jet nose art, and, eventually, custom helmet graphics. I quickly discovered that I had a knack for the latter, and thus, The Nugget Knack was born.
